Fatma Şan lives and works in Istanbul.

The three compositions all exhibit the precision of an artist who is trained in both miniature and classical tile painting. The first design features an angel cradling a peacock in her arms as she floats through a field of miniature-style curly clouds.

The second tile features a stylized fig design, conceptualized by the artist after cutting open a fig and examining the forms. The delicately outlined branches reference the method of line work in the miniature traditional.

The third design features an unusual ters lale, which is an inverted tulip, a rare flower which originates from the mountains of Iran.
